Daniel Sherrell organizer & writer

I am a climate movement organizer. I run campaigns to decarbonize the economy, create good union jobs, and protect vulnerable communities. My work has focused on passing landmark climate policies, including a Green New Deal bill for New York state and the federal Inflation Reduction Act--the most important climate legislation in U.S. history.  I am currently based in Sydney, where I work as the Senior Advisor on Climate and Energy for the Australian Council of Trade Unions, Australia's peak body for organized labor.

I am the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship in creative writing and have been awarded residencies at the Mesa Refuge and J.M. Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice. My first book, Warmth, was published by Penguin Random House in August 2021, with translations in Dutch and Korean.

I spend my free time reading novels, climbing rocks, and taking long walks without my phone.
